The Department of Anesthesiology is a key specialty of Sichuan Health Commission and Sichuan Provincial Training Base for Anesthesiology Residents. In addition, the Department plays an important role in clinical anesthesia, critical care, pain therapy,and emergency rescue.

The faculty of the department is composed of over 40 medical professionals, including 6 senior attending physicians, 16 junior attending physicians and 5 nurses, among whom there is 1 postdoctor, 11 masters and 1 postgraduate tutor, some of whom are serving as committee members of Sichuan Medical Association and National Anesthesiologist Committee respectively.

Each year, it carries out more than 40,000 anesthesia services in 22 operation rooms, among which 20% procedures are high-risk and complicated ones, such as in tumor removal, hepatic repair, brain surgery and high-risk delivery.
