Established in the early 1960s, PCCM is one of the specialties which enjoyed a long history and academic influence in Chengdu. After nearly 50 years of development, it has emerged as a large-scale comprehensive specialty with strong medical capabilities in Sichuan.
1. Professionals
The department has a total of nearly 200 medical professionals, including a large number of outstanding and skilled experts and professors. At present, there is 1 national outstanding TCM doctor, 4 provincial TCM doctors, 3 academic and technical leaders in Sichuan, 3 master's tutors as well as 61 doctors and 139 nursing staff in the department, among whom, there are 11 chief physicians, 9 deputy chief physicians, 1 postdoctoral doctor, 10 doctors and 32 masters.
2. Service and Facilities
PCCM, as one of the largest respiratory specialties in China, has4 wards with 335 beds, including 3 wards in South district (No. 18, North WanxiangRoad, High- tech Zone) with 273 beds and 1 ward in North district (No. 41, Section1, Hongxing Road) with 62 beds.
3. Medical Technology and ServiceCapability
The department provides first- class medical services to ourpatients and has owned distinct characteristics and advantages in applying integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in the treatment of respiratory diseases, such as pulmonary rehabilitation, critical respiratory diseases, minimally invasive interventional diagnosis, tuberculosis, and coordinated prevention and treatment of pulmonary embolism.
4. Research and teaching
In the past five years, PCCM has won 2 research projects of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine during the "10th Five- Year Plan", 2 major provincial and city- level scientific and technological projects, and more than 20 provincial scientific research projects. More than 100 papers have been published in core journals in recent 5years, including nearly 20 SCI papers. PCCM obtained 7 provincial and municipal scientific research achievement awards and published 2 academic monographs.
As amajor fellowship training base in Sichuan province, PCCM has also been responsible for a large amount of teaching and training at the same time.Our department produces 3 graduate students every year. Over the years, the department has completed the teaching tasks of clinical medicine undergraduate courses in many medical universities in the province, and has trained a large number of residents for many other hospitals in western China.
