Established in the late 1960s, CFPH Orthopedics Department, with 260 beds, is now a specialty with large scale, strong technical advantage among city- level hospitals in Chengdu.The department has 10 sub- specialties, such as joint surgery, trauma surgery, ankle surgery, sports medicine, TCM therapy, etc.. it's also accredited as Residents Training Base in Sichuan.

Orthopedics Department has more than 100 faculties, including 11 deputy chief physicians and 28 attending physicians, 1 postdoctoral fellow, 5 MDs, 16 medical masters, some of whom are serving as members of the Orthopedic Committee of Sichuan Medical Association and other academic groups.

Orthopedics Department has undertaken 6 projects of Chengdu Health Commission and Municipal Health Bureau, and has won two second prizes and one third prizeof the Chengdu Science Progress Award, 2 scientific and technological achievements, and published more than 70 papers. Orthopedics Department has also been responsible for the clinical teaching of interns in medical colleges and universities in Sichuan Province and training doctors for other hospitals, and has sent its personnel to conduct CME, academic exchanges and undertake foreign aid work for the past years.
